Do I need a smartwatch to use Multiverse Explorer?

No — Multiverse Explorer works completely on your phone. Taking your selfie, generating realms, unlocking characters, reading their stories, and saving the art all happen without ever pairing a watch.

A Wear OS watch adds one extra step: Send to Watch. Once you've unlocked a character, its detail screen shows a "Send to Watch" button whenever a compatible watch is paired and reachable. Tapping it builds a real watch face out of that character's portrait — with a live clock, date, and Multiverse's own styling — and installs it directly. Nothing to sideload, and no separate watch app to configure by hand.

What does need a watch

Only "Send to Watch" — wearing a character's portrait as your watch face. It requires a paired Wear OS device with the Multiverse Explorer watch companion installed.

If you don't have a watch yet, everything else in the app is fully usable — you can always send a character to your watch later, once you do.
