What does "summon a role" do?

Summoning adds a brand-new character to a realm you already have — a fresh name, role, and backstory generated to fit that realm, joining the roster as a locked character you can unlock like any other.

It's the move for a realm that's starting to feel thin: instead of waiting for more characters to show up on their own, you summon one directly from the realm's screen for one credit.

Not the same as re-rolling

Summoning grows the roster by one. Re-rolling a locked character instead swaps out one you already have for a different role — the roster stays the same size.
